Sophie obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the Université de Montréal in 1994 and a Master of Taxation from the Université de Sherbrooke in 1997. She is also a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.
All this led to a career in finance and taxation, where she has had the opportunity to be involved on issues within the Ministry of Finance, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the United Nations.
As Head of the Tax Treaty Unit at the OECD, she has developed and negotiated global solutions to the tax challenges arising from the digitalisation of the economy. This has culminated in the recent historic agreement by 134 countries to implement a global minimum tax on the largest multinational companies, including the web giants.
Before this appointment, Sophie worked at the Department of Finance Canada and at the Canada Revenue Agency where she had the privilege of playing a key role in the international tax policy work of our government.
Resident of Pontiac with her husband and her twins since 2002, she deeply understand the needs of her community.
Alongside Justin Trudeau and the Liberal team, Sophie is ready to serve the people of Pontiac and help build a fairer future for all.
